Qualcomm patents multi-fold display for mobile devices

advertisement:
Imagine holding a phone and then unfolding the display and turning the device into a tablet or even a television set. This scenario might not be too far away from being a reality as Qualcomm has filed a patent for a mobile device with a display that folds. The processor follows a sensor that allows it to respond to the changes in the screen and modify the graphical interface based on the configuration of the device that is detected. The screen can display a panorama UI, a desktop UI, web browser UI, media player or alarm clock UI, or other interfaces. Not all is peaches and cream with the technology. When folded up to perform as a cellphone, the device becomes very thick. Since Qualcomm doesn't manufacture phones itself, this is a patent that could bring in some cash flow from handset makers.
